A Little Slice of Ireland has been created by two women, Donna Sherman and Penny Finnigan, whose passion for traditional Irish goods stems from their childhood. Growing up in Irish families and living in Ireland at different points in their lives has instilled a strong sense of Irish heritage and culture. It is this passion that prompted them to create A Little Slice of Ireland and bring these traditions to your home.

The heart of our home was in the kitchen and this is where you could always find my mother.  She would be cooking traditional Irish meals not from a cookbook but from generations of family recipes that had been passed down to her.  This is what my mother had brought over with her when she arrived to North America, traditional Irish cooking and baking that she had known and loved.

Wonderful aromas of apple pies baked away in the oven.  Gingerbread squares, wheaten bread, potato bread and flakey scones with homemade jams were waiting for us to enjoy!

My mothers kitchen was an open door for anyone to come by and enjoy her home baked treats!  Now you can open up your door to enjoy A Little Slice of Ireland too.  McAllister's quick and easy to prepare packages invites you to enjoy the magic of Irish cooking, sure to become one of your families favorites too!!

A Message from Penny

Sunday dinner was always an important meal in our house growing up. My mum would cook a roast and we would all be there. It was a great family time and we would spend a couple of hours sitting around the table talking, eating and drinking. My parents would enjoy a glass of wine and my brothers and I would have our preferred soft drink. This meal always took place at our good dining room table and the table would be set to perfection. The good linen, the china plates and of course the Waterford Crystal glasses. I remember vividly drinking my milk from a tall Lismore glass and thinking it was the best milk ever. However, Waterford Crystal was not just for Sunday dinner in our house. My Mum used her glasses, her vases and bowls on a regular basis and we were raised to believe this beautiful cut glass was not just for display in a cabinet but to be used and enjoyed.

Today Waterford Crystal not only produces the traditional lines we all know and love but has created wonderful contemporary products that have fit right into modern society. People, young and old, can enjoy Waterford Crystal stem and gift ware at any time. These pieces do not require a special occasion to be brought out of the cabinet.

As my siblings and I have started our own families we each have carried on the tradition of a family Sunday dinner; however, as much as the meal itself is a tradition in our homes so is Waterford Crystal and as the food is cooked, and table set we each reach for our own set of Waterford Crystal glasses and enjoy the moment.
